Do Animals Have Souls? Print E-mail

A question I’m often asked is if animals have souls? The answer . . . simply . . . no they don’t. Let me explain for the animal lovers and believers in the possibility of your soul coming back as a bug or animal in a future life. Animals have a consciousness that interacts with creation just as every aspect of the physical universe interacts with itself. But, a consciousness is quite different than a soul. Eons ago The Source or God found that the human animal and its environment had evolved to the point that it was ready for the soul to begin inhabiting it. At that point of inception the human animal became different than all other life on the planet. Humans began evolving using their soul’s creativity and wisdom to create technology for survival and language to communicate. The human developed far past all other life on earth because of the soul within it. If another life form had a soul, it would have indeed developed at some rate alongside the human. It is unlikely that The Source would choose two life forms for a soul to inhabit on one planet, and it is certainly not the case on earth.

Comment by Jason: The process of channeling or mediumship does not permit any human being to be 100% accurate, therefore, possibly one of us is not clear on this information regarding the animal and the soul. My understanding is that all life in existence and for that matter all of existence has consciousness energy coalesced with it, the plant, the animal, the rock, the human. The difference between all of life at least in this solar system is that the human also has a soul which is quite unique and distinctly different than consciousness energy. One who is deeply connected with the soul and who is in touch with love can not only sense the experience of the law of oneness, meaning all of existence is connected and essentially one, which inspires the experience of compassion, in an animal, but also in a rock and the air one breathes. But again this experience of the law of oneness and compassion for all life still does not mean that all life has souls.

Hi. I found this answering to be contradicting of Neale Walsh's book, "conversations with God." It states, that animals do have souls - "just look into their eyes." Also, I have read "Destiny of Souls," and several of the people who have had near death experiences, have witnessed animals in heaven. Can you explain this?

Thank you for your answer. It would have been easier to have been vague, appeasing animal lovers and others but you kept it real. While I'm not sure if I agree with you or not, I do admire your straightforwardness. I say I'm not sure because it is my belief I'm not clear about. My heart tells me that there may be one (common) animal soul but it's a topic I'd like to think-and feel-about. Thanks, again, for your help.

Do you believe that there will be animals in heaven?
