When it comes to legalizing gay marriage, it doesn’t matter who’s right or wrong. It doesn’t serve us to take sides. However, it does benefit us to understand how we may unify this world faster. In many ways, the world is stuck in judgment. World peace is stifled when people attempt to control other’s nonviolent, nonthreatening decisions, which have no detrimental effect on anyone’s lives but that of the chooser. What are critics of gay marriage really protecting? Who are they really helping? What is their control really doing? Critics are scared of the unknown and change. Thousands of years ago lawmakers sanctioned beheading, torture, crucifixion, using fear and control to protect their ways of life. Today some of these methods still exist in the world. Just because we have done things a certain way for millennia, doesn’t mean society needs to be in fear of change today, especially when it hurts no one. The sooner law permits gay marriage, the sooner humanity takes another step towards a unified world.

The average marriage lasts 2 1/2 years, I see no reason we shouldn't let them take their chances like rest of us! Marriage is really a property contract first, this is why a minister must keep records by law. Whatever else we ascribe to it is up to us and our beliefs. If it's going to be about love and commitment, gay couples are surely capable as anyone. This is another case of the government sticking it's nose in where it shouldn't. This is a personal thing, between the couple and their families.

One of the many joys of being Canadian is the freedom we all have to live love and marry whom ever we please. One day, perhaps the US will catch up, I sure hope so.

I believe that as long as we are happy ~ what does it matter? We should always make sure that happiness and honesty is number one. One love ~ one love ~ one love. We are all spirit ~ ???

God loves us Gay or Straight. Let us move on to other injustices. Gay marriage is cool. 'Long as it
does not interfere with all I MUST deal with, as a handicapped American.

In 1967, the Supreme Court sent a message w/ a 9-0 vote w/ Loving v. Virginia declaring VA's 'Racial Integrity Act of 1924' forbidding interracial marriage unconstitutional. The decision was not popular at the time.

Women have had the right to vote & run for office less than 100 years (since 1920). When women were given the right to vote, this was not a popular decision at the time either.

This is the next evolution. Change isn't popular sometimes, but years later, we look back and wonder why we didn't have these rights in the first place. Just an opinion. :-)

The only way the world will ever be peaceful is when we all accept the diversity that is all of us :)

I agree with most part. Just one correction:
the sooner humanity takes another step towards a DIVERSE & HAPPY world.

Unification is Impossible, we are moving towards diversion! Happy Expansion.

I agree with your thoughts on this though I am heterosexual, have seen different sides to this...I think gay marriage would allow those people to benefit as heterosexuals do. thx
